Tali & Gavi Hoffman
Tali & Gavi Hoffman - Keter Shem Tov Award
Gavi and Tali Hoffman have lived in West Hempstead for over 10 years. They met in Queens College, and lived in Kew Garden Hills for several years before following many of their friends to West Hempstead, where they soon joined Anshei Shalom. Their children Suri, Kira and Dovid are all active participants in Shabbat groups and other youth department activities.
Tali was raised in West Hempstead, and feels lucky to have her parents and brother living close by. She is a fifth grade teacher at the Yeshiva of Central Queens where she has taught general studies to over 1000 students in the last 19 years. While she considers lending Gavi to the community her greatest contribution, Tali is also a member of Anshei Shalom's Chessed Committee, cooking for families in need when called upon, and helps organize the local Purim Costume Gemach. Tali is also a frequent participant on Rabbi Soniker's Pesach Questions chat.
Gavi was raised in New Rochelle, Scarsdale and Shea Stadium. He is a recovering attorney and a Senior Product Advisor with Amazon Web Services where he coaches Fortune 500 companies on how to maximize the value for their customers. Gavi was involved in shul and community service for many years. He served as the main minyan gabbai and a shul board member for 3 years; he was a member of Anshei's Youth Committee; he served on the West Hempstead School Board; and he volunteered for CSS. He is happy now just being a founding member of the 9:30 minyan as well as a coach in baseball and hockey. Gavi is also a frequent cause of Tali's kashrut questions for Rabbi Soniker.
Gavi and Tali wish mazal tov to the honorees, and extend their thanks to the shul rabbis, board and dinner committee. They appreciate the support that the West Hempstead community has given them throughout the years, and are grateful to be celebrating with everyone.
